How It All Started
Dilan, the founder of Terrarium Laboratory (now Greenlab Collective), began the business as a hobby inspired by his love of indoor plants.
After moving to Melbourne, he found himself missing the lush tropical garden he grew up with. Unsure how to recreate that feeling in an urban setting, he came across a terrarium online—and everything just clicked.
What started as curiosity quickly turned into passion, and before long, Terrarium Laboratory was born.
Starting out at art and craft markets, the business gradually grew to include pop-up events at major shopping centres. For over ten years, we were proudly based at South Melbourne Market, where our love for terrariums truly took root.
In January 2025, we opened our new permanent home in Elsternwick Village (307 Glen Huntly Rd), marking the next chapter of our journey.

Our New Store
Greenlab Collective opened its doors on 16 January 2025 at 307 Glen Huntly Rd, Elsternwick VIC.
This new space allows us to showcase an expanded range of terrariums, bonsai, indoor plants, and homewares in a more immersive and curated setting.
While we’ve now wrapped up our time at South Melbourne Market, this move marks an exciting new chapter—one where we can continue sharing our passion for greenery in a space that truly reflects our vision.
